Hästens Sommier

The oldest Hästens bed still in service that we know of today is just over 100 years old and seems to be in excellent health, among other things. This is made possible by the resistance of the solid Swedish pine used for the bed frame, which grows slowly in the northern forests due to the low light, a growth that does not allow the fibers to stretch, for a compact and resistant wood.

Natural padding

The first choice horsehair, that of the tail, smoother and shinier, less treated, with absorbent and thermoregulating properties soft after carding, is placed on the surface of the bed, mattress and topper.

High natural topper

How is the Hästens topper made? The Hästens topper is made by hand-placing the horsehair on the cotton layer at the base, spread out by hand, then covered with another layer of cotton or wool, and then continuing with more horsehair and more cotton.

Handcrafted Beds

Hästens beds, mattresses and toppers are handmade, effectively eliminating the negative effects that industrial production has on mattresses, such as the presence of oils and solvents that are present in mass-produced beds. The only machinery used in the factory serves to drastically reduce physical effort, to ensure that the craftsmen work peacefully, without time pressure or excessive fatigue.
